Jay Allen Shauf, 70, of Shippensburg, Pennsylvania passed away February 27, 2025 peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born May 3, 1954 in Amberson, Pennsylvania. Jay was the son of the late John W. and Elois (Stern) Shauf. Jay worked at the Chambersburg Area School District for the Buildings and Grounds Department. He later worked for Schaad Detective Agency in Chambersburg for several years, then returned back to the Chambersburg Area School district as a custodian at CASHS, where he eventually retired in 2018.

Jay is survived by his wife Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Shauf, whom he married on September 30th, 2016. He is also survived by his children, Brian Shauf (Tina Marie), Brad Shauf, Meghan Messerly, (Howard), Taves Shauf, and Jonathan Shauf. He has three stepchildren: Victoria Roberts-Marzullo (Christopher), Brianna Roberts (Damian), and James-Andrew Roberts. He had three step grandchildren: Tyler Hoch, Megan Hinkle, and Dale Hoch. He has several grandchildren: Matthew and Zakery Shauf, Emma Shauf, Kylie Ritchey, Autumn Messerly, Howard III Messerly. He also has six other grandchildren. He has one great grandchild: Thomas Nathaniel. He is also survived by one sister, Joy Shauf. 

Jay was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Jan Shauf, his brother John Shauf, and a step grandson, Oliver Carr Marzullo. 

Jay attended Chambersburg Area High School. He graduated in 1972 and started working for the school district shortly thereafter. Jay enjoyed listening to country music, drinking coffee, and watching western shows. He enjoyed watching WWE wrestling on television and playing lottery scratch off tickets. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.


There will be no funeral services. There will be a celebration of life service on May 3, 2025 at 2 PM at the Chambersburg AM Vets Post 224 Pavilion.
