Kim R. Kissner, 64 of Fayetteville, PA passed away surrounded by loved ones Wednesday, Jan 8th, 2025 at WellSpan York Hospital. Born May 27th, 1960 in Somerset, PA she was the daughter of (the late) Robert and (surviving) Betty (Wentzel) Kissner.
She is survived by two daughters and their husbands; Renee Kelly, Mercersburg, PA and Brandi Simon, Tucson, AZ. Kim has five grandsons; Kelby and Blake Taylor, Corbin Kelly, Landon and Braydon Simon. She is also survived by three brothers, their wives and children; Steve, Tom and Jeff Kissner.
A graduate of Chambersburg High School in 1978, while raising her daughters and caring for her parents, Kim put herself through and graduated as an LPN and CWCN in 1994. Caring for patients and residents of our community was her passion in life. She worked in hospitals and nursing homes across South Central PA. She was a trusted and respected worker and mentor in her field, teaching compassion and empathy. Kim was a volunteer and served as Auxiliary President at Burt J. Asper American Legion Post 46 in previous years.
She was an avid camper. Many campfire meals were enjoy with her children on trips when she’d teach a shared love of the outdoors. Fond memories were made of afternoons by the pool, canning the year’s harvest, and late night rounds of Rummy. She loved traveling to beaches and mountains, loved her dog Kallie, loved to support those in need, but especially loved her children and grandsons. “Gammy” Kissner was also loved by her grandsons and daughters.
A celebration of Kim’s life will be held at Burt J. Asper American Legion Post 46 in Chambersburg, Saturday, January 18th 1-4. Friends and family are welcome to attend to share their memories of Kim. In lieu of flowers, the family asks a contribution be made to Women In Need; 1280 Progress Rd. Chambersburg PA 17201.
