Larry Coldsmith

Larry E. Coldsmith, 73, of Fayetteville, PA passed away peacefully on January 30th, 2021 after a valiant battle with cancer.

Larry was born in Chambersburg, PA on March 17, 1947 to Edgar Coldsmith and Evelyn M. (Isenberger) Scott. He graduated from Chambersburg Area Senior High School in 1965. Larry was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and served as an active member of the Fayetteville Fire Company in the early 70s. Through the years, he worked hard at providing for his family, often working 2-3 jobs at time. Employers included T. B. Woods, AMP, Tyco Electronics, Napa Auto Parts among others. He enjoyed watching Nascar races, Penn State football games and yearly trips to upstate New York. In his younger days, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. In his later years, he found great joy in being with his wife, stepchildren and step-grandchildren.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ellen Coldsmith, his stepchildren, Tracy Montoro (Clinton) of Shippensburg, PA, Katrina Cerniglia of Fayetteville, NC, and Brittney Hughes of Shippensburg, PA; three step-grandsons and three step-granddaughters; his daughter, Jodi Bellows (Todd) of Chambersburg, PA, his son, David Coldsmith (Dawn) of St. Thomas, PA and three grandsons, a granddaughter and a great-grandson. He is also survived by three nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy (Piefer) Coldsmith, his parents, his stepfather, Carl Scott, and his sister, Gertrude Stoner.

A memorial service will be held on a later date at the convenience of the family. His final days were peaceful and he was able to be surrounded by his loving family. Sincere thanks to the caring staff at Menno Haven Rehabilitation Center for making this possible. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Company, Fayetteville, PA.
