Nancy H. Emory, 81, of Chambersburg, passed away at her home surrounded by family on Tuesday, January 26, 2021. Born March 7, 1939 in Hustontown, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Dolly Truax.
Nancy worked for Lesher's Poultry Farm and Lehman's Egg Service for many years before retiring in 2001.
In her earlier years, as an only child, Nancy found it easy to make friends with many of the animals being raised on the family farm. Nancy attended McConnellsburg High School, where she was the captain of the girls basketball team.
As a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Nancy loved to cook and bake. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends while hosting holiday meals and cookouts. Later, Nancy would devote ten years of her life to caring for her husband of 61 years until his passing in 2016 from Alzheimer's. Nancy truly had a heart of gold and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her, including her rescue cats Missy, Goldie, and Fluffy.
In addition to her parents, Nancy is preceded in death by her husband, John W. Emory, and a daughter, Anna (Emory) Hartman.
She is survived by sons, Michael Emory (Christina) and Randal Emory both of Chambersburg; daughters, Angela Rife (Bruce) of Fayetteville and Anita Strubel of Chambersburg; cherished grandmother to Andrea Evangelista, Christopher Emory (Ashley), Airica Evangelista-Simmers (Nathan), Adam Emory, Alyssa Balkom (Bryant), Amanda Hartman, and Drew Rife; and to 14 great-grandchildren.
